In October 2019, Cartagena Paws went to Maria La Baja, a small community outside of Cartagena. We were invited by teachers a the public school to teach 6th-11th graders about animal welfare. The highlight of the event was overwhelming participation of the students. Since they are older kids, we asked them to think of a way to help solve the stray animal problem in Cartagena. They thought a rescue center could be the answer. In small groups, they thought about how this would be possible from different perspectives and presented their ideas to the whole group. Afterwards, students decorated a wall on campus as a reminder of what they learned and the impact they can make in the community.
It was inspiring to see them developing ideas to change the community and make Cartagena a more compassionate place!
