Cartagena Paws Educational-Based Rescue Center Fundraiser
Part OneOne; providing safe homes in Colombia and the World. We have successfully adopted out over 250+ dogs and cats within the United States and Canada in just the past 8 years. Our animals suffer horrific cases of abuse and neglect, and we make it our duty to ensure that they have a full rehabilitation process prior to adoption. Likewise, we have a highly-effective foster system which allows for our rescues to have time to adjust and acclimate to life within a home or apartment prior to adoption. However, due to CDC Bans issued for over 120+ countries (Colombia being one of them), we are no longer able to carry out international adoptions, and only carry out adoptions within Colombia.
Part ThreeLastly, the third most important component of our mission statement is Education. As many of our Cartagena Paws Team Members are educators and counselors, we understand very well the importance of educating the community about animal rights and awareness in order to help diminish the animal abuse, neglect, and illegal trafficking of exotic animals that is currently taking place in Cartagena.
Likewise, the Educational Programs help teach both children and adults about animal rights and welfare; in addition to empathy and compassion. We have already begun to implement large scale sustainable recycling and animal care initiatives within the communities of Cartagena with a great success rate. We at Cartagena Paws believe that we can create change from within! |
Part TwoTwo; our Spay & Release & Vaccinate Clinics. These large scale clinics are implemented within communities with high populations of stray animals in an effort to substantially decrease the need for future spaying and neutering and reduce the horrible cases of starvation and neglect that so many of the animals here in Cartagena are currently undergoing. Likewise, Cartagena Paws has united with other animal rescue groups and veterinarians within Colombia to perform large scale vet-care clinics for families who may not have access to vet-care due to underlying circumstances. Lastly, Cartagena Paws also provides animals with tick and flea control, vaccines, heartworm treatment, TVT treatment with chemotherapy, vitamins and IVs....
What's Next?Cartagena Paws wants to take our mission to the next level and secure an area of land in order to set up a small Educational-based Animal Rescue Center. At our rescue center, animals will be loved, cared for, and safe from the horrors they once knew. They will have the opportunity to receive necessary treatments and professionally monitored recovery periods before they can enter foster care, and later adoption. The rescue center will have the primary function to conduct spay and release events, in addition to educational events throughout the communities. Finally, our center will help host additional classes on animal welfare, empathy and compassion, basic needs of animals, creating sustainable recycling projects throughout the community, and the importance of preserving marine life. We are proud to say that this would be the first educational-based animal rescue center of its kind in the coastal region of Colombia!

We currently have a rural area of land selected outside of Cartagena that would service the community while also providing a safe and secure home for the animals. The area is one half hectare in size and is in a perfect location for all 3 components of our mission statement to be realized. We are determined to obtain this land so that we can fulfill our mission and goals and help promote awareness. We want to help create the difference and create a positive impact on Cartagena. Today we ask you to join our mission by donating to our Cartagena Paws’ Animal Rescue Center. The acquisition of land and basic infrastructure construction is estimated to cost upwards towards $170,000 USD. Although this is a large sum of money, large is our drive and determination to bring our dream to fruition.
